Ingredients for Sourdough Cheddar Biscuits
Biscuit Dough:
250g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
4g (1 teaspoon) sugar
5g (1 teaspoon) baking soda
5g (1 teaspoon) baking powder
3g (3/4 teaspoon) salt
3g (1 teaspoon) garlic powder
113g (8 tablespoons) butter, melted
180g (3/4 cup) milk
120g (1/2 cup) sourdough discard
113g (1 cup) sharp cheddar, freshly shredded
Butter Topping:
28g (2 tablespoons) butter, melted
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Oven Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
Step 3: Incorporate the Wet Ingredients Add the melted butter, sourdough discard, milk, and freshly shredded cheddar to the dry ingredients. Mix everything well until fully combined.
Step 4: Scoop the Biscuits Using a scoop or spoon, portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each biscuit for spread.
Step 5: Bake to Perfection Place the biscuits in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fully set.
Step 6: Finish with Butter While the biscuits bake, melt the butter and stir in the parsley. Once out of the oven, use a pastry brush to coat each biscuit with the butter mixture for extra flavor.
Step 7: Enjoy! Serve warm and enjoy the rich, tangy goodness that defines these sourdough cheddar biscuits.
